About Healy AI:

The team consists of two serial entrepreneurs, two PhD engineers, two registered dietitian nutritionists, two ivy league masters and alumni from Google, Amazon and Snapchat. They’re looking for additional engineering expertise as they look to build a suite of new unique tools.

Healy’s mission is to make personalized dieting simple. They’re using a suite of technologies including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Machine Learning AI to power a unique set of tools for consumers. More can be shared on an individual basis.

  1. Full Stack Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop with our engineering team client and server side solutions for our B2C products
  • Develop web apps and html embeddable widgets for our B2B products
  • Develop tools to benchmark our technology on large dataset
  • Help the science team to transfer their AI and AR technology into our products
  • Marketing activities including advocacy and grassroots activities to increase word-of-mouth

  • Detail Oriented; Best practices, documentation and unit tests savvy
  • Team skills; Exhibits strong teamwork skills, is a good communicator. Can work with remote colleagues

Requirements:

  • College completion in Computer Science (minimum BS)
  • Knows: C++ , Python, Javascript
  • Familiar with Amazon Web Services or other server side software suite
  • Related internship/job experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals

2. Machine Learning Scientist

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new NLP technology to power our B2B and B2C products, such as automatic recipe generation from a list of ingredients or from a restaurant menu, or nutrition facts prediction from a restaurant menu, etc.
  • Help the engineering team to integrate the technology into our products
  • Help mining new diet / food related datasets
  • Help founding NLP conference workshops related to our business, or publishing papers
  • Marketing activities including advocacy and grassroots activities to increase word-of-mouth

  • (optional) Implement Augmented Reality overlay to showcase the technology
  • (optional) Publish paper with the team

Summer REU @ University of Alabama

The University of Alabama (UA) REU, Engineering Sensors Systems and Signal Processing for Speech Pathology, is a collaborative research experience between the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the department of Communicative Disorders. This multidisciplinary program runs from May through July and offers research opportunities for 9 students from UA and other institutions across the nation. Students in all areas of engineering, computer science, and related fields are encouraged to apply.  Available research projects will allow participants to work on interdisciplinary problems requiring image analysis, sensor design, algorithm development, and information processing to support research in speech pathology.  Speech language pathology is an applied behavioral science whose scope of practice includes screening, assessment, treatment, and technology/instrumentation related to the areas of fluency, speech production, language, cognition, voice, resonance, feeding and swallowing, and auditory habilitation/rehabilitation.  Details of the available projects, benefits, requirements for eligibility, and available support are online at: http://reu.eng.ua.edu

The Harvard-Amgen Scholars Program is a ten-week faculty mentored residential summer research program for undergraduates in biotechnology. Through this program, a diverse cohort of rising undergraduate juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to work in laboratories of faculty across the Harvard campus. In addition to an engaging, formative research experience, Harvard-Amgen Scholars will live among over 300 undergraduate residents of the Harvard Summer Undergraduate Research Village community in one of the historic Houses along the Charles River. The Holcombe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Clemson University is seeking applicants for a summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.  This NSF funded program is entitled:  “REU Site:  Solid-State Devices for Electronics, Photonics, and Magnetics Technology“.  The REU supports up to 10 summer students, typically with one to four semesters remaining in their undergraduate programs, to become involved with a faculty member and graduate students for a 10 week research experience at Clemson.  The program is open to undergraduate students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, and Physics.  Closely related disciplines may also be considered.  The program provides summer housing on campus for the students and pays a generous stipend.

Intern Position in Orthopaedic Research Lab at Beaumont-Royal Oak

We are seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, part-time (10-15 hrs/wk) co-op student from December 2018 through August 2019 (start and end dates are flexible based on performance and need). We anticipate the number of hours/week will increase (to approximately 20-25 hrs/wk) sometime during the spring or summer terms to a full-time co-op (36 hrs/wk in the summer). The position will be dedicated to the Implant Retrieval and Analysis section of the laboratory. This section collects retrieved orthopaedic devices, then prepares and catalogs the devices for additional studies/analyses and long-term storage. In addition, the student will perform microscopy, failure analysis techniques, and mechanical testing for various research studies. The position will require assistance with literature reviews as well as manuscript and abstract preparation. The ideal candidate will have interests in a research/medical-based career and/or pursuing graduate studies. Experience with optical microscopy is required. Experience with materials characterization techniques is desired, but not required.
